My First Puzzles: Today's Free App, Plus Book of the Day: Rise of the Dark Falcon

I don't know about you, but I've been spending a lot of time with my Kindle Fire lately. The holidays are over and there's work to be done, and it's COLD out where I am, and all of these things make it even better to relax with the Fire in one hand and a cup of hot chocolate in the other. It's hard to tell which is sweeter, the chocolate or the apps and books I get to enjoy, like the following...

Today's book of the day comes to us from author Sean Sweeney. Writing in the tradition of Lloyd Alexander and other fantasy greats, he weaves a tale of adventure and danger that are sure to leave you wanting more. And fortunately, you won't have to wait long, because a sequel is coming out soon!

Name: The Rise of the Dark Falcon
Rating: 5.0 stars over 1 review
Price: 2.99
Description: In the township of Cassimina, a long-awaited legend takes shape.

Krampel Paddymeyer, a 16-year-old orphan, has just learned about the power locked deep within him – the power to wield a great sword of the past – when his master dies following an orc raid. Orphaned again, Krampel sets out and becomes a bounty hunting loner, taking bounties without passion or prejudice toward the intended target. He turns into a heartless and unfeeling individual, where even the slightest touch causes him to grow agitated. With the power of Flad-rul, the Flame Thrower, on his hip, Krampel becomes the most feared bounty hunter by the time he reaches the age of 21.

It is in this year that Krampel’s life takes a drastic change. A task appointed to him by a wealthy land owner, followed by a request to apprehend two criminals wanted by the High Imperial Inquisitor, sends Krampel down a path least expected – and firmly entrenches him on the path toward his destiny. Enter a dwarf prince from a kingdom in the west, and the stakes grow higher: The dwarves of Labergator want the second criminal for crimes against a neighboring realm. When Krampel and his new apprentice meet the dwarf prince, they join forces to bring the criminal – someone from Krampel’s not-so-forgotten past – to justice.

Reviews: "The story began to draw me in immeadiately, the characters began to develop, and I began to get a sense of the world I was visiting. The story moved along well, leaving little tidbits that can be explored further. I didn't close the book feeling the tale was unfinished, but eager to see what adventure Sean takes my new friends on next!"

  2. Hi Ling, thanks for your compliment. I'm glad you're finding us useful! As for the game Rise of Atlantis, the best way to find out would be to contact the developer and urge them to make a version for the Kindle Fire. It's possible they already are!
